New Year - New State Attorney

We now are in a new year and also have a new staff in the State Attorney's Office. We now have in office SA Angela Corey. Let's see what pans out legally for Darrell Gilyard for 2009.
Maybe, just maybe there will be no victims in 2009, wouldn't that be something to cheer about? Sadly, I am afraid this won't be the case, as I am told by many close to him, he is just as arrogant as ever and still not an ounce repentant. Keep praying, God is still in the miracle working business.
Maybe this will be the year where he finds earthly punishment and consequences. We know he will have eternal ones. We will see what this year holds and keep praying for protection for the innocent ones around him.
Thank you for your continued reading and support of this blog, we are all in this together.

Happy New Year Tiffany. Let us remember that God's moves in His own time and in His own way,He will always get all the glory and will not share it with any of us. There were many who believed that Darrell would never be stopped and yet God not only stopped him, but I believe will make it were Darrell will never legally pastor another Church. Believe me that God has put Angela Corey in place for this very reason. She is a mother and tough on crime. It does not surprise me that Darrell has or will not repent because he is probably the most arrogant and evil person I have ever meet and I mean EVER! But remember the Scriptures are always true "Be not deceived God is not mocked; Whatever a person sows, that shall he also reap"[Gal.6:7].Lets have patience and see what God does.

Here, here, Pastor Rod!

DG's conscience is seared, and unless the Lord works a miracle in his life (and DG responds), he will probably remain as you describe: evil.

I continue to pray for all of DG's victims that they will find peace, acceptance, and hope in this ordeal.

May this new year hold peace and joy for all involved in this case to bring about truth and justice.

Sharon It's sad to say but you are probably right that Darrell's has no conscience. I wish that he had one for his eternal sake.

So is Gilyard still walking around? The previous entry indicates as such. I have seen the video of the counselor gving testimony in deeming him a threat. This is nuts.

Someone needs to point out to ALL ministers that sexual morality is a prority over tithing, steady attendance, etc. based by conclusion of the Jerusalem council (Acts 15). All state conventions should have review boards that examines for suspensions of liscence to preach and this would be a good place for a database to begin.

Happy New Year to you Pastor Rod and Sharon Rose...you are faithful readers and supporters of this cause, thank you.

To anonymous Jan. 18:
I fully agree with the need for a database. So many are very strongly against it. This has been an ongoing request to the SBC from many, many concerned people through the years. I have learned that there is a "closed/sealed" set of records within the Southern Baptist Convention.
This list is where churches or individuals have reported a Pastor or other church staff who is made to leave due to impropriety. What purpose a sealed set of records serve I am not sure. These offenders move to another church and begin to abuse again. The book is not something that is open to be able to research an incoming Pastor, a background check, as you would expect. I do not see much use for a closed list in which the only people privy to the information generally already know of it and do nothing. Asking a Pastor to leave a church certainly does not put an end to the bad behavior. The next church is usually unaware of the predator they are welcoming in. Though the predator is well aware he will get away with it all again.
I agree we need a database. I guess I need to research it and pray about my role more in seeing this happen. My husband and I have discussed this before. You sometimes have to make things happen vs. wishing it would, right? However, I need to research the legal ramifications, etc. I also know that it would be a full time job upating the information as we have more predator preachers out there than I ever would have imagined. It is far from isolated or rare.
Thank you for your concern and you will all be the first to know if this becomes a reality. It is certainly time for change right?

ANYONE KNOW WHAT HAPPENED AT PRE-TRIAL HEARING TODAY ?

I sincerely hope that we not only see DG repent and get right with God, but that the grown women who voluntarily slept with DG because their hearts wasn't right will repent as well!

I also pray for healing to the young girls who were victimized by this monster, and that they will not allow this unfortunate event in their lives to cripple them or hurt their faith in God!

Another reason for self-governing convention boards with databases will also minimize greater litigation risk managed BY THE STATE where they will say and govern WHOM and WHAT about ANY minister. If the convention leaders can't take what Crista's has to say...this will come nooo doubt. They need to listen to Crista and you. Keep at it!

Can someone please provide an update of exactly where things stand, as I live out of state? Where is he now and how is the trial progressing?

Thank you.

PS - I continue to struggle with all of this, even after a year has passed. It was truly his sermons and his gift of speaking The Word that led me to HIM, and I am still devastated.

Anonymous said...

Its natural for you to struggle when you've had the respect we've had for Gilyard. But this too will expose who we are in Christ. Either we will choose to lean on God or stay wrapped in our emotions. God knows how we were hurt but sometimes we get wounded in war as innocent bystanders.

Gilyard's time of doing this to women, young or not, is almost over. His arrogance and disrespect for God is truly amazing to see since he is a man of the cloth.

I know he's human but God holds us accountable for what He has given us and He gave Gilyard a flock to take care of, not rummage through for sexual pleasure.

God help him and the State please put him away!

Anonymous said...

His next pre-trial is 2/12. I suspect we won't see too many of these since there is a new SAO in town! I hear she's a no non-sense type of leader.

Tiffany Thigpen Croft said...

Let's hope she (S.A. Angela Corey) puts an end to these delays and passing pre trials, let's get on to the actual business at hand. Hank Coxe, no need to delay, we (the people) will not lose interest! We will see this through. The people are still "sounding the alarms".

Anonymous said...

Tiffany, a database for predator ministers is not a good idea, not only because of the legal ramifications, but also the moral implications. If you assumed such a task, you would become judge and jury of the veracity of reported sexual impropriety of ministers.
If as in the case of Gilyard, there is clear evidence of impropriety, I believe that we have a duty as Christians to speak out against such impropriety. Thanks for keeping us informed on Gilyard’s case and his attempts to redeem himself in the ministry.

I have been reading the blogs here since all of this stuff started coming out. It is a shame what some so called christians will go along with. Playing with God is a extremely dangerous game and Darrell needs to be punished for what he has done and the hurt he has done to so many people in the past. I know Tiffany says she was there when all of this started. She may think she was there in the beginning, but I know someone who goes back further than Tiffany. The lady knows all about Darrell's history, where he came from. She remembers when Darrell drove a old green impala about a 72 or 74 model. When he would preach he would jump over pews and fly around like batman. The crowd would get all excited.
Anyway, I spoke with this lady who was engaged to Darrell long years ago. She was deeply disturbed by the things she had heard and read in the news paper. She asked me a lot of questions. What really touched me was when she said through the years she went through a lot of hurt and a lot of pain. People judged and talked about her. He was the golden boy who had hurt her so deeply and never explained why. He went on preached, mistreated and abused women some turned away and pretended not to see, but in life you got to reap what you so. I gave her this website to read all the blogs. I hope she will and maybe she will come out. She is one beautiful person both inside and out, but has been through a lot of things. She came from a good family. She went through a lot of stuff after her and Darrell broke up but she never spoke harshly about Darrell or what happened she just said he really hurt her deeply. Please let's hope she will come forward she could probably shed some light on what is going on.

To all of us Shilites:

I was just today from a friend who is very good friends with PAstor Sampson that the new pastor, Rev. charles has a full package of 1.2 million dollars!

Somebody please tell me that my friend misheard Sampson?? Even Gilyard wasn't paid that kind of money and he actually had a degree.

Anonymous said...

Actually, as far as I know and have read Gilyard did not obtain a degree. Don't know about the rest of your comment. But whew! Oh Brother! Did anyone ever think that an extreme multitude of money could corrupt a brother. As in the case of these Wall Street execs that the President even said was 'shameful' when speaking about how when their business was perishing and they received tax payers money, they still paid themselves 14 billion dollars in bonuses last year (2008). One man on CNN gave the best explanation of this COMPLETELY nonsensical behavior saying these execs become arrogant because of their cushion of money, develop a false sense of entitlement and lose all sense of perspective. I guess greed does not even bypass ministers. Has any minister ever humbly rejected a ridiculous amount of money offered to him or her and said 'No, $100,000/yr (even $200,000/yr) is enough for me and my responsibilities. Turn the rest of the money back into the church to serve the people and help them.' Consider also that the pastor of shiloh will receive bonuses a minimum of 2 times a yr: his birthday and his anniversary at the church. If 1.2 mill is true, that's shameful.

Anonymous said...

1. DG did not have a degree.

2. Stop listening to all that hogwash. Pastor Charles did get anything close to 1.2 mil. Shiloh doesn't have that kind of money to pay him after all this DG mess.

Anonymous said...

Anon January 31, 2009 3:44 AM

Since you haven't confirmed the accuracy of any part of what you allege you are just spreading gossip and rumors. First, I don't believe Dr. Sampson said it. Second, If he did neither he nor your friend know what they are talking about. Third, and finally, it is the height of irresponsibility to post something you heard from someone who heard it from someone else without confirming its accuracy. Sowing seeds of dissension among the brethren is someone the Lord hates. If you are so interested in Shiloh's pastor's compensation package why don't you go to him and ask him?

Anonymous said...

This is not anon 3:44 am

About 10 yrs ago Gilyard was being paid $250,000. 10 YRS ago! There is no telling how much he was getting before he left and that also is a RIDICULOUS amount of money Shiloh. But hey, Shiloh did whatever they needed to do to keep that rogue, right. Until a mother sent him away. I guess Shiloh did have WELL over a quarter of a million dollars to pay him.

Anonymous said...

You think $250,000 is ridiculous. I suggest you find out what the other pastors at some of these big churches are making. You may not find that so ridiculous.

Anonymous said...

Anon: Jan 31st, 7:08 pm

First, nothing I said about the pastor's salary constitutes "Dissension between brethren". Second, I know for certain that Dr. Sampson said it! I also know the person to whom he said it!

Therefore, before you attempt to correct somebody, be sure you know your facts! for the record, DG did have a BA degree in Pastoral Ministries from Criswell College in Dallas, Texas.

H.B. Charles does not have a degree, but he is a very gifted preacher without question! I don't blame him, I think he should get all he can for as long as he can so as to secure his finacial future for himself and his family!

Anonymous said...

I don't agree with those often disagree with those oppose the database are presummed to be judge and jury. It is permitted and advised to use Torah to macromanage the church (I Tim chapt 1 and II Tim 3:16). There is a difference in condemning a person and putting them under civil restraints for their safety and others. Parents do this with their children. Elders can have this option as well. Anabaptist leader Hubmaier stated in his writings that he never advocated a separated wall between church and state and thought that Christians should be magistrates. He also stated that there is no true church present where there is no church discipline.

Anonymous said...

To the one at started this blog and to the responders, readers and hearers. I am that goes back further then any of you all. I know hat for a surety that God called Pastor Gilyard to preach His Gospel. God doesn't call us to preach or save us because we are perfect; God knew who he was when he was in his mother's womb the same for you and I. Because he is Pastor doesn't place him or anyone above sinning. Romans 8 states we must walk in the spirit so we won't fulfill the desires of the flesh. For the Bible states for the gifts and calling of God is without repentance. We all must be delivered from the strongholds of he enemy even after giving our lives to Jesus. From what I read we all have strongholds that need to be destroyed, yes this includes you all, yes you all are operating in unforgiveness, you all are confessing to be Christians and breeding unforgiveness, hatred, malice, and bitterness. I know some of you were hurt by him or by just hearing it, but some of you place yourselves in that position. Just think about your part in it. It takes two to tangle; everyone was looking to get something out of it. Rather it is love, peace, happiness, or even money and prestige. One young lady said she sought God about the Pastor before getting involved with him. Good for you that’s wisdom. We all should seek god before getting involved with anyone, the devil will use anyone if there is an open door for him. All of you have an open for the devil to use you, keeping up all this bitterness, hatred, and unforgiveness. The Lord has blessed you all to move on with loving husbands, beautiful families. Stop! Letting the situation to continue to control your lives it keeps you all in a state of unforgiveness and bitterness to keep desiring to see him hurt and got to jail is bitterness. God will take care of Pastor Gilyard He said vengeance is mine. He’ll do the repaying, stop getting other women to continue in bitterness let it go! In the long run it’s; not worth it. Do you all realize He has family hat love him too and understand what these people went through and pray for them and him? And pray for you all with these hateful words you all are writing? Proverbs 6:16-19 says, These six things doth the Lord hate: yea seven are an abomination unto him: a proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, and heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running o mischief, a false witness that speaketh lies and He that soweth discord among brethren. Pastor Gilyard knows which one he is in all this. Do you know which one you are? God Hates it. God is so loving when Pastor Gilyard humble himself before God and ask for forgiveness and repent, God will forgive him and cast it as far as wast is from the west. Who are to walk around passing judgement. God created you and him. You all are hurting yourselves. I love you all, let God heal your burt. Stop opening the wounds. Move On! It’s in God’s and the law hands now. We all have been hurt by this. We just love and pray that God’s will be done.

Blessed are the pure in heart for they shall see God. May God Bless You All.

Yes he knew the word of God, but he didn't really know it had not reached his heart, which would have caused a change of heart. Anyone can go to school or even decide on their own to learn something. Especially if they can benefit from something. The demons beleive and tremble James 2:19. So, that means nothing. DG did what he did according to the flesh and in his own strength. God allowed it.
I remember what the apostle Paul said, "follow his example Phil 3:17." Therefore, we should be able to follow those who are leading us. Apparently, DG isn't the model to follow nor a true shepherd.
What we should do is always be discerning and prayerful always looking to the Lord to lead and guide our souls. We should pray for godly leaders to be under and then be sensitive to the Holy Spirit's commands.

Let's stop making excuses for these types of people and remember that God has standards and He didn't say because one is mere man, they are not held to them. If there's no desire or effort to keep God's standards, then let them all find something else to do.
Written in the spirit of love.

For the record, DG did not know the Scriptures as well as he may have sound. The truth is, and everybody in the SBC knows this is the truth, DG simply preached Dr. Jerry Vines sermons!

All he did was "repackage" Vines sermons and added his two cents worth and the people of Shiloh was fooled. If you don't believe me, then please listen to a few of DG's sermons and then go to FBCJax and get a few of Vines sermons and see what you hear. This is tragic indeed!

Anonymous said...

I almost forgot, you can also go to the book store and get a few of Dr. Vines books, which are simply his seermons edited, and there you will see many of the sermons that DG preached over the years!

My question is this?So Gilyard used other pastors sermons repackage as one of the blogger put it.can the word of God(Jesus)still go forth.I know this true because I use to tell my friend that it sounds like I heard these sermons before and it was true.It was not only Dr.vines, but other Pastors sermons too.I have to be honest I personally did learn,I know alot of people on this blog will disagree with me.I did grow at shiloh and our Lord and savior did use me while I was there.God has used many men in the bible that has done alot of things that we would diagree with, but God(Jesus)used them anyway.I think we should take responsibility for our actions, repent and turn from our sins and live a productive life for God while we are here on earth so He can use us to draw other people to the fold.I am a witness on what God(Jesus)can do in a man Life(Me)when you allow Him to do so.Iam no longer a member of shiloh, but I thank God for my Growth and experience while I was there it was the beginning of my journey in this walk.I always pray for shiloh and my friends there and the formal pastor that God will be done.

Maybe you did grow-but it appears that your growth was stunted. You may have learned, but you didn't get all that you could have. While it is okay to repeat some of what others have preached, it's not okay to Plagiarize; which is what DG did. He didn't have to study and hear from the Lord when he did this kind of preaching. Again, it sounds like excuses are being made and perhaps you don't see it as this, but that's exactly what you are doing. Stop softening up what this man has done. Wake up! You sound like an infant. This man is dangerous and even Jesus called such people out. DG is a false prophet. Know this!

I see a lot of stones being thrown here, and as a Chrisitan, I am so ashamed. When one of our own falls, we are not commanded to help to keep him down. I am sure that if you seriously dealt with the transgressions in your own lives, you would have little time for judgement or prosecution of DG. God will do what needs to be done from here...you have done enough! Proceed with love, and glorify God in all things, considering yourselves and the imperfections of your own walk with God. Apparently, Brother Pastor Rod Hendrix, you never sat under Pastor Gilyard because he DID indeed TEACH specifics regarding morality and ... you know what? Nevermind...this would be a futile effort, and worthless in its outcome because no matter what anyone has to say about the situation, God is the ONLY ONE DG has to confess to, repent to or worry about coming up against him. He was chosen by God for a reason...look through your Bibles people! How many of those that God used to do extraordinary things led spotless lives? Not ONE! You say judge not lest ye be judge.... hummm. Apparently you HAVE sat under Gilyard, because obviously you know nothing of the meaning of that verse.

You quoted Matthew 7:1..Here's the interpretation of that verse.
:"This verse does not prohibit all types of judging (see v.16). There is a righteous kind of judgment we are supposed to exercise with careful discernment (which it didn't take much in DG's case-John 7::24). Censorious, hypocritical, self-righteous, or other kinds of unfair judgments are forbidden; but in order to fulfill the commandments that follow, it is necessary to discern dogs and swine (in v. 6) from one's own brethren.: Always know the context of supposed Scripture if you're going to quote it.

You have fallen prey to ways of a Judas and I hope that Brother/Pastor Rod does not respond to you because at this time iT would be of no benefit to try and reason with such as you.
anon 10:35pm is correct, a false prophet (DG) is a wolf in sheeps clothes.
DG also did not teach the whole council of God. Once you've been enlightened one can clearly see that he didn't teach it all. His messages were "light on sin" and nothing on living a holy life."
I know... I was there for a while. So, stop drinking the mixture and defending the false prophet. He is not a fellow believer. You will know them by their fruit Matt.7:15-19.

It amazes me that there are so many, even on this blog who can not for the life of them understand the seriousness of calling out the pseudo-brethren. I'll tell you one thing Jesus sure did put them on front street! We must be warned of these blatant false prophets. DG didn't stumble, he fell down, rolled, continued to roll and stayed down, although he thought he was going up. He thought he was above the law of God and the land. It's just as anon 251pm has stated, "DG is a false prophet." And he needs to be saved. He at no time has ever even known Jesus Christ. How he has lived is proof of that fact. You better know it.

Have you guys heard of the phrase "Disqualified from ministry?" Well, according to 1 Timothy 3, DG was disqualified a long time ago! That man slept with nearly 32 women from the late E.K. Bailey's church, not to mention the women from the Victory Baptist church and many many more!

The word from very reliable sources is he even tried to go with Mrs. shelia Bailey! Now that's quite low!Thankfully, Mrs. Bailey was too much of a "classy" Christian woman to fall for the likes of DG.

This isn't about judging, this is about a "Serial Adulterer" doing his diabolical work to hurt innocent women and children. However, the grown women knew better and "some" of them simply wanted a piece of the action!

I wonder what those who lied, covered up and protected DG will do now. Not only do they have to answer to God, but to the law as well. This is what happens when refusing to confront sin and deal with it biblically, rather than getting into bed with the Devil. Now all involved; from the deacons, secretaries, executive assistants and whom ever else is involved will give an account. Listen up people.... this is a lesson learned for us all, hopefully. Do not tolorate SIN in the church. It doesn't matter whether the church seems... and I do say seem, to be prospering monetarily or people wise. It is not worth the damaged that can and has been done because of DG being allowed to have free reign. I pray that everyone involved in this mess has TRULY repented in the hope that they can enjoy fellowship with the Lord Jesus and move on or else suffer the consequences of their sin.
Lastly, Shiloh IS NOT going to be okay UNTIL the deacons, trustees, secretaries, executive assistants, body guards etc. have been pruned. The old administration has to go. Pastor HB, make it right with God. Do not let them control you or a worst thing will come upon Shiloh. Please do not overlook what is happening with the insurance etc. Matter of fact, it would be good to check and verify that you are insured. Though the Lord is merciful, His cup has run over with this. God has pulled the covers off the sin and has exposed you all to the world! Get it right with him and come clean.
May the Lord Jesus have mercy on those poor children and everyone else who has been hurt whether spiritually or physically because of DG and his protectors.

I'll bet if their boss said to jump off the bridge they wouldn't do that. The motivation for their allegiance to DG was money money money money.... money!
They need to go! They need to know that their allegiance should be to CHRIST and CHRIST ALONE!!
The end.
