I do not believe this is true. Regarding the girl accusing her father. I think this is another vicious rumor, these girls are going through enough, please be careful what you listen to and what you repeat. The enemy (Gilyard) would love nothing more than to discredit these victims, it is part of his game and he has done it before.

I am her mother,

My husband has never been accused of anything of the sort. This is a riduclous, satanic rumor! If you do not have facts, don't say what you heard.

His high price lawyer can exploit whatever he wants, but God knows and He has the last say!

Anonymous said...

I apologize and stand corrected! I wasn't trying to be disrespectful, i just know that part of the strategy for the defense in these types of cases is to discredit these victims any way they can and with whatever info they may have. I know this has to be difficult for her and your family and feel terrible for any victim that has gone thru this. No person has a right to do this to any minor child and they must be protected.

"No person has a right to do this to any minor child and they must be protected."

Amen to that! No person, let alone a pastor, has the right to do this to anyone: child or adult, male or female.

Please be assured there are people all over the country praying for the victims of DG, and praying that justice will be served. All of the victims need to be protected from any further harm, including rumors.

Tiffany, thank you for keeping us informed, so we can know how to pray.

Your posting should be removed so others won't carry this vicious lie elsewhere. Where did you get that from?

I am not upset with you. I am praying daily for this shadow that has come upon my family. But God is in control and He's working it out and I pray that HIs will be done and that justice prevails.

It seems people love darkness more than the light, just like the bible says it would be in the last days. God help us.

To anonymous, thank you for clearing up what your intent was and acknowledging that he is wrong.

I did remove the post because it is and was hurtful to the family and I do not want to cause them any harm. I also do not wish to give the defense or others any help with damaging accusations.

There will be many things said to try and discredit the witnesses, I would expect nothing less. But, everyone, please refrain from being any party to helping them to spread lies. Please know that these young girls DID NOT go looking for his attention, he makes you feel as if he is a Father figure and Pastor interested in helping you spiritually. Until the other happens suddenly, you are completely unaware that it is coming to anything wrong. That is what predators do. "Prey" meaning the other party is innocent and unsuspecting of the danger/predator lurking behind them waiting for the right moment to pounce and devour their prey. Even our Lord knew how to describe it when He said "a wolf in sheeps clothing" no one is safe from a predator.

All of this being said, please pray for the victims and pray that the defense will not destroy the victims further. I am claiming "no weapon formed against them shall prosper" we can help that by dispelling the rumours we hear and praying against their strongholds.

Anonymous said...

I am upset with how people will try to destroy the victim. Believe me I know this is a tactic for the defense. They will say anything to win. I know because it happens to me.
Let me say, This kind of tactic gave me the strength to keep going because they had really made me mad. The more I got upset, the more I knew; I had to continue with the fight. It was so ugly. But I trusted God and I told my very good lawyer, I do not even trust you to fight for me but you will do because you are not the one who is fighting this battle for me.
I tell you, ANYONE who hurt a child in that way should be found guilty. No prior or present behavior of hurting a child will ever be tolerated. We must protect our children to the fullest extent. Anyone thinking the story that anom mar 28 2:47 is true and tries to hurt her with something so ugly; they will be hurt to use a story in order to discredit a minor. No parent or morally adult will tolerate anything toward a child.
No one has the right to damage a young mind. No one! Not even DG lawyer. Do not miss it up that a lawyer can hurt a child and think its ok or even get away with it.
Thinks happen for a reason, I said. You can upset a community or a nation with hurting a child, I do not care who you are. This kind of hurt goes deep into the marrow of the body. I am disgusted that anyone would participate in hurting a child and or compound more hurt upon a child.
I know these tactics well, STAY STRONG and Try to do some fun things. Tell your family how much you love them, keep your support semi quiet (some that people know and some that they will know at the trial). Just like I am reading this, they are too. Do not say more than you what has already have been said. As a matter of fact, if they are not involved closely with you on this case, do not say anything. See, because regardless of what they do or say, there is more and the ugly heads has not seen anything yet.
Pray. Smile and know darkness and light cannot go hand and hand or pop off for a moment and duck back in, unless they agreed. No way can you violate a child and think that it's ok. We are adults that know what's wrong and what's right. A child is be molded by family and environment. We must protect children at all cost.
I wish someone had protected me. I did not fully understand what was happening. I was told I was special. I thought my family must think this was ok because, no one is saying anything. I thought that was what should be happening to me. But I had so many nightmares, I was disturbed. This went on for years. I cried all day and all night. I finally thought, I need to get over that and be strong. I had to because I had to protect my other siblings. And I did with my whole heart. I felt I was already damage and no one cares, so I had to care for them. As I got older, I act out because I did not believe I was worthy to be loved by anyone. I dreamt of a wholesome life and with someone who loves me but I never believed that would happen. All I ever wanted was someone to love me, protect me, to be there for me and to let me know things was ok.
But do you know, predators can read that in a person and it happen again with people of authority. It reaffirmed my belief that I am unworthy. I was told that I would be destroyed if I do anything about it. I tried so hard to forget and move on. Thinking that this is why I am here on this earth. I would ask God why. One day, I got a vision that Jesus loves me and is hurting for me. I could see the blood. He told me he got this. He knew I was so very wounded. He understood, but he was going to change things. I can go on but the bottom line is that do the sins of adults on a young mind damage me; I knew someone loves me deeply. I had the strength to go against the odd set for my life. I fought and I had to endure but I fought. I had to fight for myself and my child. I never wanted any child to feel the emptiness or hurt that I felt. Oh did I say, they too tried to crush me. But I felt they was not doing anything more than what has already been done. I was harassed day and night. I learnt to smile and sing. I could hear them saying, why? I smile and was singing because it was not going to go down like they wanted. For the first time in my life I felt like someone cares and had my back. I then knew they were in trouble for hurting me so badly.
And they were. I won!
See, I know it’s hard but it will be harder if you do not fight for your life and your rights. You got to stop it now for your own sake. Predators are cunning, they learn how to manipulate and they are very good.
BUT the truth of it, they do not care about you at all, they do not have you best interest in mind. They only care about themselves. I got tired of the sign on my forehead. I had to remove it at all cost to me. See when I looked at my precious son as a baby (who is now grown), I wanted him to see and know LOVE and have a good chance in life. You do not have to wait until then. This fight is about LOVE for you. I am here to say YOU deserve the very best. You are not made to be walked on or abused. You are so very special.
I am pulling for you and you do not have to go years to know someone cares or even have your back. God is already working on it, just know that. He cares for you and any devil comes against you he will deal with them. He is no respect of person. He knows what is going on. He will not be made a LIAR. His words were true then as they are today.
This is a sociality that does not tolerate this kind of abuse. Do not be fooled, many of the adults has experience this kind of stuff many years ago and is feed up with it. In their heart of hearts, they are sickened. Anyone who put money or power before the life of a child deserves to lose it. We have sick people out there but we are going to stop the ripple effects of a predator. You girls are so wonderfully made and you are SPECIAL. God has a purpose for you and it's not for ANY man or woman (in a position of authority or not) to abuse you. You were not made for that. Let a child be a child.
We must show our young people the way that foster love and peace in their heart and mind. If we do not stand for them, who will!!!!! You do not have to become so damaged to know what LOVE is or to begin believing in yourself.
I was a member of that place. I get disgusted that anyone will defend a predator. I do not care who he or she is.

Your words are genuine and from your heart, and testify on behalf of so many abuse victims. May you find continued strength, support, and "enablement."

We need to keep the State Attorney and the judge in our prayers as they take this case forward. And we especially need to keep the victims in our prayers. They need to know they are supported, and that they did nothing wrong. I am especially thankful for the parents of these teens who have done the right thing in notifying authorities.

I have been documenting church abuse cases in Christian Fundamentalism since 2001. Attacking the victim is a common practice in church abuse cases.

I hope that these young ladies and their parents understand this: there will be unfounded accusations against them, and it can be devastating. On the other hand, nobody outside the tight little cliques of these monsters and those who cover for them actually believe these unfounded accusations.

In a large sense, the wicked men who hide, excuse, and defend these Daryl Gilyards do betray themselves when they start attacking children and other victims.

All the same, be forewarned: few things are as ugly as church abuse cases. Then again, to overthrow predators from their pulpits is the sort of thing, for the rest of your life, that enables you to look at yourself in the mirror.

DG will be preaching at a local church in the very near future.

Anonymous said...

Not sure how true this I was told by 2 people and a local pastor today that DG is suppose to be preaching at a a baptist church off I95 and Golfair. They say you can see the church off 95. He will preach on Friday nights allegedly.

All I know is that church will have to stand before God and any other church that calls him to speak. God is not mocked.

if anyone knows the name of the church, please post it.i will personally call Dawn Lopez an inform her of their intentions. That will be interesting!

Be very prayerful before you make any decisions to try to bring negative publicity and chaos to God's church....even if it is a church that has chosen to embrace a sinner.

Anonymous said...

To Anon April 3,2008 12:46pm the only chaos that has been perpertrated in these men so-called church's of God have been caused by these so-called men of God such as Darrell Gilyard. If these so-called men of God would attempt to live and preach Christ and the saving Gospel instead of stealing the people blind and attemting to seduce and sleep with every woman they can, there would be no need for negative publicity. And remember this;Jesus said "not every one who says to Me Lord,Lord will enter the kingdom of Heaven, but he who does the will of my Father in Heaven"(Matt.7:21-23).And the Bible assures us that habitual sinning is not the will of the Heavenly Father(Read Rom.1:18;1Cor.6:9;Gal.5:19-21;Eph.5:3-7;Col.3:5-7;Titus 1:16;1 John 3:7-10).

Anon April 3,2008 3:14 Explain what purpose does the Bible serve?Who inspired it?Is it inerrant(without error)? Can it be used to determine what actions are not consistant with the will of God, and what actions are?Can it be used to determine what is sin and what is not?If the Bible is the Word of God and was inspired by the Holy Spirit of God,then it has the authority over mankind and determines what is right and what is wrong. If I am declaring what God's Word says, then am I being led by the Holy Spirit. There is a story in the book of 1 Samuel about a man by the name of Eli who had two sons that were priest. In Chap 2 verse 12 the Bible states "Now the sons of Eli were corrupt;they did not KNOW the LORD.Verse 17 tells us "Therefore the sins of the young men was very great before the LORD.(According to this verse the people abhorred the offering of the LORD).In todays language;they had a disdain for the things of God due to the wickedness of the priest(preachers).Chap.2 verse 22 states "Now Eli was very old;and he heard everything his sons did to all Israel, and how they lay with the women who assembled at the door of the tabernacle(today the church)of meeting.(v23)So he(Eli) said to them,"Why do you do such things? For I hear of your EVIL dealings from ALL of the people.(v24)No,my sons! For it is not a good report that I hear. You make the LORD's people transgress. In Chap.3 the LORD appeared to Samuel with these words;(v12)"In that day I will perform against Eli all that I have spoken concerning his(Eli)house, from beginning to end.(v13)For I(God)have told him that I will judge his house forever for the iniquity which he KNOWS,BECAUSE HIS SONS MADE THEMSELVES VILE,AND HE DID NOT RESTRAIN THEM".It was the reponsibility of Eli to restrain his sons and when he did not the LORD killed all three of them(1Sam.4:11,18).The moral of the story is that it is the responsibility of the church to remove members who persist in habitual sin and Darrell Gilyard has for approx.24 years has been preying on women and now allegedly children. And now for a pastor to allow him to preach at his church and for you to believe it's alright; You tell me if it's you who are following the Holy Spirit or your flesh.[Gal.5:19-22].

Anonymous said...

Pastor Rod at the end of the day, you and only you will be held accountable for Your actions....not Gilyard regardless of what he has done.If your motive is vengeance, you will be judged along with Gilyard. Once again, be certain that the Holy Spirit is leading You. For the record, I don't think it is alright but that is still God's church and the members of that church deserve to be able to worship in peace even if their pastor made a bad decision.

Anon April 3,2008 5:08 I do not understand your logic. You did not answer any of my questions concerning the purpose of the Bible. One's personal opinions do not equate to the Inspiration of God's Holy Word.Because I have said what scripture requires the church and believers to do with habitual sin that's in it's midst has nothing to do with whether I will be held accountable for my sins(read 1 Cor.5).I am in the eye's of the Almighty no better than any other person on earth, but that's not the issue. You have presented only what your opinions are none supported by scripture. The Bible is the final authority!!!Tell me of any legal profession were one with Darrell's track record would be allowed to continued to be employed;other than the church? The prophet Hosea stated "My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge.Because you(the people)have rejected knowledge,I(God)also will reject you from being priest for Me;Because you have forgotten the Law of your God,I will forget your children(Hosea 3:6).Anon 5:08 unfortunately you and many of us have forgotten what God's Law says if one is follwing what the Bible commands....it is he who is walking in the light and the guidance of the Holy Spirit. The Apostle Paul wrote these inspired words "All scrpiture is given by inspiration of God,AND IS PROFITABLE FOR DOCTRINE(TEACHING),FOR REPROOF(REBUKING BEHAVIOR),FOR CORRECTION,FOR INSTRUCTION IN RIGHTEOUSNESS,THAT THE PEOPLE OF GOD MAY BE COMPLETE(WHOLE),THOROUGHLY EQUIPPED FOR EVERY GOOD WORK.I enjoy our discourse but I will always stand with the authority of God's word.

Correction: Darrell Gilyard and his wife are planning to join First Timothy church located on Biscayne Blvd.this Sunday and the pastor of the church (Newbill) will allow him to preach on Friday nights because he needs the money to come in. For some reason Gilyard in his twisted mind thinks his judgement is slow to come. THIS IS AWFUL!! He's bringing condemnation upon that church as well (if it isn't already condemned). They all will answer to the one and only true almighty living God.

Pastor Rod,

I just have to jump in here. You are absolutely right. It appears to me that some "christians" don't even bother to READ the Word, let alone understand it! It amazes me how ignorant some "christins" are in their thinking! If they would just spend quality time in the Word for themselves, asking
God to help their understanding, we wouldn't have so many "blind, fool, christians!", if they are indeed christians at all!!
I'm sorry, but it REALLY aggravates me to hear logic like that of Anon April3, 2008 3:14. Keep posting the truth about God's Word.
Also, I've also heard the rumors of D.G. preaching at another church, and possibly being hired. Shame on that Pastor!! He will bear the consequences of his actions. Also, according to the judges orders, DG is not to be around teens or children. How are you going to Pastor and possibly be on the staff of a church WITHOUT being around children? Isn't part of a Pastor's job to lead ALL of the sheep? If this is true, doesn't this violate the judges order?

To the person who says that a church decided to embrace a sinner. You can embrace the sinner but DG is not fit to preach in anbody's pulpit. I'm not hating on him, just the facts. God will judge that church.

DG recently preached at the Harvest Dome and again I say that church will be judged as well. This is non-sense!!!

Tiffany Thigpen Croft said...

Just to confirm for everyone, the story is true - he will join First Timothy Baptist Church this Sunday and speak every Friday there after. I waited until I had confirmation to post.

My question and concern is what will he be speaking for? Friday night is when churches usually hold Singles or Youth Meetings, not necessarily a church service. I hope they lock out the women and girls or he will leave a trail of hurt there as well as every other one he has stepped foot in.

I do not understand the logic of these churches. Their leaders will answer and be held accountable. Shame on them for taking a chance with their flock.

Tiffany these pastor's operate on there own worldly logic. This is why the Apostle Peter warned future TUE BELIEVERS what to expect;"But there were also false prophets among the people, even as there will be false teachers among you,who will secretly bring in destructive heresies, even denying the Lord who bought them, and bring on themselves swift destruction. And many will follow their destructive(sensual)ways, because of them the wway of truth will be blasphemed(mocked).Becuase of covetousness(their greed)they will exploit you with deceptive words;for a long time their judgment has not been idle, and their destruction does not slumber(it's coming). The Apostle Paul also warned that a time would come when people will not listen to sound Biblical advice, but according to their own sensual desires they will chose pastors to follow and listen to(2Tim.4:3-4).But they had better enjoy themselves NOW because the Word of God is clear "My brethren, let not many of you become teachers(preachers, pastors),KNOWING THAT WE SHALL RECEIVE A STRICTER JUDGMENT(James 3:1).James is not discouraging true men of God,but warning any prospective preacher of how serious God is about the position of a leader in His Church. It is sad but true that many of these men have not been called by the Lord, but chose the profession for money, power, prestige and women."Do not be deceived,God is not mocked;for whatever a man sows, that will he also reap(Gal.6:7).Tiffany I share your pain and frustration and double for me because I'm a pastor.

I totally understand why Newbill accepted DG's membership. But I don't understand and am OUTRAGED by his decision to put him in the pulpit. Though we all know these stories are true about DG (rather we want to admit it or not, no debate here), let's say that they are false. The point is that you do not allow that kind of spirit to minister to your congregation. Even if DG is completely innocent, for DG's sake and the congregation's sake, he should be sat down for a season. Allowing him to "minister" that spirit into the lives of people is shameful. Now, back to reality, the man - DG - has a problem: criminal, moral, spiritual, and mental. And to allow THAT kind of spirit to minister is double minded and downright wrong. Shame on Newbill. He saw what DG did (not, God) w/ Shiloh and his eyes got big. I imagine he will offer all kinds of reasons for, redemption and the like. Listen up pastors: REDEMPTION DOES NOT ALWAYS EQUATE TO EARTHY RESTORATION. EXAMPLE, A CONVICTED SEX OFFENDER MAY SERVE HIS TIME IN JAIL AND CHANGE HIS LIFE, BUT LEGALLY HE CANNOT BE AROUND CHILDREN, SCHOOLS, ETC. THAT IS, HE CANNOT REGAIN EARTHLY CLAIMS. THAT IS SIMPLY HIS LOT IN LIFE, THOUGH HE HAS PAID FOR HIS CRIME. DG MAY SEEK/GAIN REDEMPTION, BUT HE HAS NO BUSINESS PASTORING. AND THE LAST TIME I CHECKED HE HASN'T EVEN ACKNOWLEDGED WRONG DOING. This is shameful.

Anonymous said...

FYI, when I am the author of the 10:27 post. I wrote: He saw what DG did (not, God) please know I was being sarcastic. Of course I know that DG did not "grow" Shiloh. Wanted to clarify that and not get a bunch of meaningless posts screaming about this. Sorry.

To any pastor or leader:
To allow a person of Darrell Gilyards' depravity to say anything to anyone in your congregation is an affront to the living God! Just how serious to you take the word of God? Do you care for His sheep? Aren't you afraid of God's wrath and judgement? Please read Acts 20:28!!! Now after reading it answer the same questions above. God is so serious about SIN in the church that it cost Him His ONLY BEGOTTEN SON!
To the members of these churches that allow unrepentant people who are full of blatant sin (Darrell Gilyard) to lead or speak to the them:
You too will be held accountable for; contributing to, listening to, and staying under a leadership that is willing to allow the wolf to have free reign over God's sheep. You are also responsible for what you know. To be in a position like this will cause you to become spiritually malnourished. You will not grow spiritually. You will begin to compromise the truth of God's word.Just get out. Leave! Please be as the Bereans when they told the Apostle Paul that they would compare what he told them to the scirptures Acts 17:10-11.
To all: Please take the Word of the Lord very seriously.

I don't know about everyone else, but I'm going to pray for "outrage" among the congregation. I'm not talking about some sort of violent outrage, but a righteous indignation. Maybe if enough people in the congregation rise up against this, they will oust Gilyard and also find a new Pastor!! Also, if it can be confirmed that Friday is also youth night, shouldn't the prosecutor or the judge be notified? He's not to be around children without supervision. It seems that in the past, he has found a way to be alone with them.

When I first found out that he was going to this church, I spent a day feeling as if i was physically sick. To know that once again, despite calls for help and alerting people to his predator problem - a church is once again taking him in and giving him power.

I have to trust that the Lord is in control and will have the final word. Maybe He is using this to expose churches and people that are not truly following Christ and His Word.

I am truly feeling a sense of fear for the potential new victims there. It will not take him long to spot his first victim, he will move slowly and he will be sure to assure their silence. He cannot stop himself, and he will stoop to any level to assure he gets what he wants. After all he is potentially facing prison time now, so he is even more dangerous, he knows he will have no access for a while.

As for his wife (comments made) I feel that she has been victimized to in a different way. I could almost promise you that she is very much afraid of him and what he is capable of. His first wife experienced this and that was 17 years ago, imagine how much more evil and scary he could be now after such a long trail of victims. She may want to leave, she may be immobilized by fear, she may be biding her time. But she has to be in turmoil one way or another. I wish we could help her as well. I would not want to be in her shoes.

To Pastor Rod H and others concerned about DG teaching the youth at 1st Timothy Church -

Has anyone considered making a small protest across the street from 1st Timothy?

Signs would have to be carefully written--i.e., state that there are "allegations" of sexual misconduct against him. If you make "safety of children and youth" the issue, and invite the media to attend, it would certainly alert the people of 1st Timothy to think twice about letting their young people be taught by DG. It would also put the Christian community on notice that there are those concerned enough to do something to protect children and youth in Jax.

Pastor Rod - would you be willing to get something like that organized? It doesn't have to be a big protest. Even a handful of people would bring awareness to the community. If you invite the media to come out, they just might.

You know as I have poured over these blogs. I almost believe what the "Barna" report says, "Estimated that only 10per cent of the church is saved". Money, power, sex and add corruption and those that endorse Gilayrd.

Anonymous 4-3, 9:13, and Tiffany Croft have confirmed DG "will join First Timothy Baptist Church this Sunday [4-6] and speak every Friday there after."

DG did not teach last night, but apparently is scheduled to teach this coming Friday (4-11).

He has only allegedly molested a teen and sent leud text messages to two teens. To date he has not been convicted. That needs to be kept in mind. Having said that...

The parents of teens at First Timothy, and even singles--esp. young single women age 18 and over--may not be aware of the potential danger if the allegations against DG are true. The leaders of First Timothy may have told their congregation that DG has only been accused and the accusations haven't been "proven," so there's no need for concern. And we don't know what DG may have told the leaders of First Timothy Baptist.

Even though nothing has been proven in a court of law, there should be public concern that the leaders of First Timothy are potentially putting teens and young women in harms way. Whether or not the allegations atand up in court, or whether or not DG is convicted, it is not prudent to allow DG to teach in a church at this time. What will the leaders of First Timothy think if DG is found guilty, and worse, if DG harms teens and young women in their church? Clearly, people should be concerned.

DG is free to join any church he wants, but biblically and morally, he should not be allowed to teach others. He is no longer qualified to minister.

This issue should be addressed by those who are concerned. There are peaceful and meaningful ways to confront this issue (see suggestion for a protest above) to keep teens and young women safe in the community, including First Timothy Baptist Church.

Ms. Rose, I thought the membership of a a church is supposed to be made up believers. Another approach is that Gilyard has never been in counseling, nor stayed in it. He is supposed to be under church discipline because of his lack of following under the authority. He has admeitted to sexual miscondut but never followed through any part of restoration. More amazing is the fact that people keep referring to him as a child of God. Nothing Gilyard does shows anything about Salvation

If Gilyard or Newbill are born again, then the Pope is not Catholic.

Anonymous said...

To Anonymous 4-5, 3:09 p.m. - You are correct. A church is "supposed" to be made up of believers. Unfortunately, many times unbelievers make their way into the membership of churches. We cannot judge whether DG is or is not a believer, altho we do have "by their fruits you will know them," and Jesus' teaching that in the body there will be "wheat" and "weeds" (Matt. 13:24-30) to guide us. We need to be careful and diligent in the body.

A church's leadership and its constitution and by-laws determine whether a person is allowed to become a member of a particular church. Legally, it's none of my business to protest someone's membership in a church, even if I am a member of that church.

However, if I am aware that a particular member of a church could pose a threat to other members in that church, I can take action, peaceably, to protest. I believe we still have that right under the First Amendment.

If you're upset about DG teaching at First Timothy, then consider using your energy to take a stand to bring about a peaceful solution.

Taking such action could not only possibly prevent harm from coming to innocent children and young women, it could also help DG in the long run.

My prayers are with all involved for wisdom, courage and strength.

Ms Rose, do you think we all reprobate into the church role. What does the Bible say about Church membership? What does it say about those who are "fallen" or not saved.

(If you're upset about DG teaching at First Timothy, then consider using your energy to take a stand to bring about a peaceful solution. ) Satan can preach better than that. What do you know about Sripture. Do you believe that God would allow him in the Church. Funny, the judge told Gilyard no contact with the children and other contacts with this case. There must be enough evident to warrnat a concern. But no we put him back in the pulpit. What might your "peacful situation look like?

Taking such action could not only possibly prevent harm from coming to innocent children and young women, it could also help DG in the long run. (All about protecting God's children, not the least bit interested in Gilyard. I have known him to long.) If you haven't noticed there is a wake of destruction and damaged people behind him.

To Anon, 4-5, 6:16 p.m. -

There is the church "universal" (all truly saved believers who have been saved since Christ's resurrection), and the church "local" made up of members in a local church congregation. God is the one who ultimately determines who gets in the church universal. A local church usually has a constitution and by-laws that determines who gets in to the local church membership. A church's constitution and by-laws are man-made and not perfect. It's easy to "talk the talk" and become a member of a church, especially if you're a manipulative person.

Theologians answer the question regarding the "fallen" in many different ways. I am not a theologian, nor have I ever pretended to be a preacher.

I know the Bible at least well enough to understand it is not God's intent for a "fallen" pastor to be back in the ministry (I Tim 5). God isn't allowing DG back into a teaching position at a church. The leaders of First Timothy are apparently the ones doing that.

I have heard about the "wake of destruction and damaged people" behind DG, and it grieves me. Unfortunately, I understand how a "man of God" can leave a path of destruction, and get away with it. It is very painful in so many ways, and hurts so many more people than just the victims (as if that isn't awful enough), including family members of both the victim and the perpetrator, and the congregation. I am in no way minimizing the damage done by a member of the clergy who does the things DG is accused of.

To Anon 3-5, 3:09 - If the allegations are true re: DG, then counseling may not be effective. It's very difficult to rehabilitate someone with those problems.

My prayers continue to be with all concerned in this situation.

Well spoken Sharon.Your explanation of the two church's is correct, and just because a person is a member of a local church by no means makes them a part of the universal body of chosen and called out true believers. This is one of the reasons why I would have reservations about picketing Newbill's congregation. As you already know men like these(D.G & Newbill)have no loyalty or true belief in the sufficiency of the scriptures. The Bible to these types of men has no true authority nor will they adhere to it.They will build up straw arguments with mis-interpreted our completely ignored scripture references. Most of their poor parishoners will think like their pastor and defend him to the very end and not the truth of the Lord.I know this because of my experience from being a member of Shiloh and confronting Gilyard there some 9-years ago.Sharon the media is well aware of everything that is going on,as a matter of fact I saw a TV-30/47 van parked outside the church this pass friday(4/4/08).As far as leading a protest outside 1 Timothy I do not feel led of the Holy Spirit at this time.

Anonymous said...

Pastor Rod,

I'm glad to hear the media has gotten wind of this. I'm with you about the protest, but I'm hoping the media will stay on top of this storyand reveal it to the public. I believe that if the church will not properly monitor itself, God will at times use other outside sources to do it.

Ms. J.

Anonymous said...

Pastor Rod - The purpose of a peaceful protest/demonstration is not to convince DG or Newbill of anything. You're right. Neither one is in a right frame to accept or respect God's Word. They've obviously demonstrated that.

However, if the purpose of a protest is to protect children and young women from potential harm if the allegations against DG are true, then the protest is worth the effort. I sense from most who have commented on this blog that they have no desire to see anyone else harmed. If just one family is spared from clergy sexual abuse (csa) by a protest, then the effort will be worth it. Just ask anyone who is a victim/survivor of csa. They will tell you, it is worth it.

All the media can do is report what's happening. If there is nothing happening, they will leave. If, however, there are folks they can interview, folks who are genuinely concerned that congregants at 1st Tim. could be at risk, then they will. My husband and I would want someone to alert us if we were unwittingly putting our children in harm's way.

The media can't and won't do anything to stop DG if he should go after another victim. Nor can the media shed any light on this issue other than to report about what happens.

It requires that people lay down their fears to do what's right. So many are upset over this situation, but it sounds like no one is upset enough to do anything to protect another. The "poor parishioners" if 1st Tim. are just that--poor sitting ducks if the allegations against DG are true. No one has anything to lose by quietly standing on a sidewalk holding up a placard. But if by holding up a placard, a young woman or teen is spared harm that could last for years, then you will have the satisfaction of knowing you did the right thing to help. If you do nothing, and further harmful acts are committed, you will be ashamed of yourself.

It's up to you. The Spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.

Perhaps by just notifying the SAO and the honorable judge in this case, another authority might step in to intervene, and the church (true believers) won't have to do anything anyway. No one really expects Christians to be brave.

Ms. J - I especially appreciate your spirit. This is a case of the church being willing to "monitor itself" or not. It takes courage to make a stand to protect the innocent. My prayer is that the Lord will grant each of you courage and wisdom as you decide what steps to take next. So many have their hearts right in wanting to see clergy sexual abuse stopped, but most are frozen in fear, unwiling to do what needs to be done stop it.

TO Sharon Rose:
It may be possible that God is leading you to head this peaceful protest, because it appears that you feel very strongly about this being done. Pastor Rod has fought an awesome battle while being a member at Shiloh (and after he was told to leave). Also, he has been very instrumental in divulging important info to the SAO. He has also gone to at least one of the court hearings. In my personal observation, I believe that all of Jacksonville (other states as well) is aware of Darrell Gilyard's doings. But at this time pastor Rod does not feel led to participate in this peaceful protest. Now, perhaps God is leading you to do this. He has the last word.

According to Acts 6:2 some are given the responsiblility to do certain task . The primary concern of the pastor is to spend as much time as possible to the studying and teaching/ preaching of the word of God.
Char H.

Anonymous said...

Char - Maybe you're right. Maybe God is leading me to lead a peaceable protest. We all have the constitutional right to peacably assemble. And I would be happy to do that. I just have a little dilemma with standing on the sidewalk across from 1st Tim. You are all quite a ways away from my location! This case has not hit the news in California. I happened to hear about it from StopBaptistPredators.org, and was interested because of how many apparent adult victims of DG have surfaced.

I wasn't aware of Pastor Rod's involvement. He should not be the one to lead a protest, or really even be involved. It would be too risky. We don't want an attorney to claim there is a conspiracy. There isn't.

But there are concerned people who are outraged that an accused man is being allowed to teach in a church after being arrested for sexual misconduct in a church. It is like an accountant being arrested and fired for embezzling thousands of dollars from a company, and then another company hiring him to handle their finances! It's just not wise on the part of 1st Tim. And this doesn't involve money...how much is a teenager or adult woman worth?

A protest would certainly send the community and 1st Tim a message that people are concerned for the safety of children and women in Jacksonville. If the media gave it coverage, the message would get out to the public. It's not about hurting anyone in any way; it's about preventing harm to any more innocent victims if the allegations turn out to be true.

Not sure how I can be there to stand with anyone on the sidewalk. If I could, I would.

I'd be happy to discuss it with anyone who is interested. You can go to my website, sharonsrose dot org to contact me via email. Just click on the "contact us" button, and an email form will pop up.

I have some ideas for doing a peaceable protest.

In the meantime, people can write letters of concern and submit them to the local newspapers. That's another great way to get the message out.

Let's continue to keep this in prayer.

Sharon I visited your web site and read your story. You are a very courageous woman and are to be admired. And now I understand your great concern.

Anonymous said...

Pastor Rod - apparently you are very brave, too! Just as a side, so that you know I understand where you are coming from, one of the pastors who tried to help the victims in my case was fired, and two missionary families lost their support from the church because they were concerned about the victims. I understand the costs of helping.
I just wrote a letter to StopBaptistPredators.org and offered to go to Florida if someone pays for my airfare and lodging. My family is behind me in this. Because of your involvement, it might not be prudent for you to do much more with the 1st Tim development. There only needs to be 2 or 3 concerned citizens to stand up. Are there 2 or 3 people, not involved in any way with the police investigation/trial, who would be willing to help?

All of this needs prayer! And please be assured there are many people across this country watching and praying.

Please feel free to email me at sharonatsharonsrosedotorg.

Blessings to everyone who is concerned in this matter.

Thank you for posting the address for 1st Timothy. Does anyone personally know whether the leaders of the church are AWARE of ALL of the things DG has done, including Texas? Are they acting out of ignorance to the facts, or do they just not care? Maybe Tiffany can answer these questions.

Thanks

The Pastor, Newbill, is very aware of everything surrounding DG. He is a very close friend and even did his pre-marital counseling. Newbill is a big believer in second chances due to the many trials in his own life. make no mistake, there is somethiong in it for both of them. DG is very self-serving and so is Newbill so they must have come to some agreement beneficial to both.

I understand the church was packed this past Sunday and a lot of members were very excited about his presence there.

Anonymous said...

If Newbill believes in "second chances," does that mean he believes DG is guilty of the charges against him? If he doesn't believe he's guilty, then why the need for a "second chance"?

Where in the Bible does it say to give a "second chance" to an errant pastor?

If sinners confess their sins, then God can forgive their sins. But DG pled "not guilty" in court. How is it that he deserves a second chance? Giving him a second chance implies he is guilty of the charges.

To Anon. April 9, 1:56 am:

I believe Pastor Newbill is going with the fact that DG has not been convicted of anything just charged and since he hasn't been convicted , is willing to give him this opportunity. You would think that any Pastor would not want to have anything to do with such a thing if for no other reason than to protect his flock.

Pleading 'not guilty' doesn't mean jack! Every criminal does that! Wouldn't it be easier if they would just admit to their crime and save time and money. But everyone person has the right to 'due process' because our system says reasonable doubt. I wouldn't expect DG to plead guilty; then he would have to register as a sex offender which would certainly hinder his future. He does not want that,so he will take his chances with a jury(if it gets that far). Pleading not guilty is pretty standard.

I would believe a prudent pastor would tell him that at this time with all that he is accused of that he should abstain from any patoral duties and at which time he is cleared of ALL charges, we can revisit your being able to preach. DG has obviuosly convinced Newbill that this is all unfair accusations and how everyone is against him, blah blah blah.

Anonymous said...

I would expect a so called "man of God" to tell the TRUTH, regardless of the consequeses, and not add insult to injury by lying about what he did, if the facts prove he did it! (His past is evidence enough that he should not be preaching to anybody.)

Why would any "decent" christian man want to put two children through this? He is in essence calling those children liars by pleading not guilty. There is only one reason he is doing it, and it is because he is a COWARD!
He hasn't "truly" repented of anything and adds lies on top of it. Then, on top of this he goes back to the pulpit like a hypocrit. How dare he!
I'm sorry, I am VERY passionate about these so called preachers perverting God's Word for their own gain. Shame on all of them!

Ms. J.

Such men don't care about the flock that's obvious. Even if Gilyard has not received a conviction here can't Newbill look at his past that pushed him out of Texas and unbeknownst to most brought him here to Jacksonville. This is so sad. Members of First Timothy your pastor considers you fools. That's a problem in a lot of these churches today, congregants don't think with the mind of Christ (I Corinthians 2:11-16) they think with the mind of their pastor whether he's right or wrong. You must first be in Christ (born again) to have the mind of Christ. FOLLOW Christ first and not man. READ your bibles for yourselves and stop getting caught up with what a man tells you you'll lose your perspective. I'm glad Newbill's name isn't Jim Jones!

My friend attended the Friday night service and said Newbill nor his wife nor Gilyard were there. Some other man preached the message and said something to the effect of "I know some of you were expecting someone else to be here..." My friend learned from a lady in attendance last night that Gilyard took the pulpit Tuesday and there was murmuring and grumbling in the audience when DG got up there and then a good part of the people walked out. I don't know if this is her first hand account or if she heard it from someone else. In any event DG didn't preach yesterday. According to my friend only a few came last night about twenty. Can anyone confirm about Tuesday?

Yes, according to their online calendar (see below), there was a healing an deliverance service scheduled for Friday, April 11th at 7:00 p.m. But, I didn't see anything on the schedule for Tuesday. That doesn't necessarily mean there wasn't a service though.

Anyhow, the important thing up to this point is that if he were at the pulpit Tueday, and got a negative response, that's a good thing. And, the fact that he didn't preach Friday is ALSO a good thing. Thanks for sharing.

Could someone check this out and post an answer. I was told that DG will preach Sunday, May 4th at First Timothy.

He is up to preach on Sunday May 4th unless its a ploy to pull people in.

DG has allegedly made calls to members of Shiloh and there is one member who is a police office that will probably move over to First Timothy and is trying say things to get others to follow.

One statement he allegedly said was that God has to judge DG, not us.

I say, Bah Humbug!

Anonymous said...

The good officer comes up lacking in his biblical understanding. The Bible says, "You shall appoint judges and officers...which the Lord God gives you,...and they shall judge the people with just judgment. You shall not pervert justice; you shall not show partiality, nor take a bribe..." (Deut. 16:18,19). God commands people to set up judges and judge the wicked. The U.S. judicial system is based on Judeo-Christian laws.
Also, Jesus spoke these words, "Yes, and why, even of yourselves, do you not judge what is right?" (Luke 12:57). I think we all know what I Tim. 5:19,20 says. Too many church leaders today ignore or twist these words of the Apostle Paul.
The good police officer also seems to lack in knowledge of the "separation of church and state" mandate of the First Amendment which assumes churches will judge rightly in matters of the church. Unfortunately, there are uncrupulous and evil men in churches today who use the First Amendment as a loophole to do heinous crimes against children and women...and believe they will get away with it because there is no "law" against it, and because churches do not hold up their end of the bargain to mete out justice in their own houses of worship.
What DG is accused of doing is illegal regardless of whether it happened in church or not. That is why DG was arrested in the first place. And his case hasn't yet been heard.
It is unthinkable that he would be allowed to preach in any pulpit until his trial is over--and then only if he is found innocent of all charges against him.
You certainly have the First Amendment right to assemble peacefully. Check with the governing jurisdiction (city and/or county) to see what local laws there are regarding doing a peaceful protest. One or two people quietly standing with carefully worded signs would make a huge statement.

If some of you stand on a public sidewalk with signs across from the church, I hope one of you will take some photos and email them to me. Maybe I could post something on the website.

Wholly apart from the pending criminal charges in Jacksonville, DG shouldn't stand in a pulpit until every woman or girl who ever reported being assaulted by him has been objectively heard and determined to be not credible. Let's not forget that, in his first church alone, there were 25 women who reported him. There's nothing that says a man gets to stay a preacher unless and until he's actually convicted of a crime. Surely churches can impose a higher standard than that for deciding who stands in the pulpit.

I have read all the posts for DG at Timothy and after reading that the members are aware of DG actions, I feel no assembly is needed. I think it is a shame that any members given the account of what had and is going on with him, would even want to be around him and or have their kids in his present. I will not protest but will never attend any church that accepts him as a preacher unless he redeem himself and pay for his actions and make a complete change. I say this because one of my violators is too preaching in ATL. He started preaching years after hurting me. He first made things correct and paid the price. He is constantly reminded of what happen. He is not hiding or trying to run away from it.

I was the only person known to be violated by him some 48 years ago. I felt that since he has changed and made things right as best as they can, he can move on. His church is aware and not one more incident was ever noted. He has paid the price and though I was permanent damage, At least I know and feel he will never do anything like that ever again. That violator was so remorseful. He did not care who knew about the incidents, he just wanted my pain to go away.

So, if members walked out and CBS news was there then I believe they know about DG. It was not like going to Shiloh as a member and not knowing.

But do not be swayed that he can go on without changing and paying for his actions. Sometimes a person can go thru blindly or arrogantly to force a change by letting the devil have his way. Meaning he will be a fool to continue on as though nothing has happen or going on. And that he will only increase his dues for his actions.
Any parent or female that will listen to him or be around him is just as sick as he. They too will have to be accountable for their action.
He has been given an order not to be around children. So, is he arrogant enough to tell the Judge he do not care about his order?
He will hang himself even more. When a person continue on as he had and is, he has not learnt a thing or changed or repented. There should be some time for healing and straightening out all this mess one way or another. It seems as though he believes this is normal and believes that he is above all.

Interesting! Stupid but interesting! The arrogant of this person is so unreal and the followers just let you know how cults are built. So, as long as CBS47 can follow his trail is good. I also find that the court date is Apr 30 and he is set to preach May 4. Strategy is profound but GOD will not be mocked. His words will not be made a lie. Stay focus even more because it is obivious that something is really wrong with that person.

I am not a victim of sexual abuse at least not the carrying out of the act. At 1o yrs old I was almost molested by my mother's live-in boyfriend but I screamed for him to STOP! and thank God Almighty he did. I know how fortunate I was. I immediately went over to my great aunt's house who lived next door and brought her with me to confront him telling her in general he was doing something he shouldn't be doing and needed to stop. She, baffled, kept asking what did he do...what was he doing?--To which I replied, "Ask him!" The whole time he was standing on the porch upon being called out looking stupid. I assured my older great aunt to the side that I was going to tell my mother about it as soon as she got home from work and I meant it. Because my mother suffers from mental illness, when I approached her to tell her that evening I began to think it might cause her to have an episode. I wrongly decided not to tell her since I said to myself nothing had happened; but it did, he tried to have sex with a 10 yr old! I reasoned that if anything like that remotely happened again then I would tell. Nothing happened. In 1987 it was rumored in my hometown (I lived out-of-town) that he had gotten 2 teenage girls pregnant of the woman he was shacking with then. People said it was so incredibly noticeable that the small children looked just like him. I don't know but that scared me. These are people that don't know about my story because I never told it until I was well grown to my sister and then my mother. Years later I heard he had A.I.D.S. and in 2002 he died. I have no doubt that this man harmed other children; just think, if I had told someone and he was reported, how many others might have escaped physical abuse at his hand.

I am saying all of this because I was just thinking today if only the young ladies at Criswell College who reported rape and sexual assault at the hand of Gilyard in the 80's had reported to the authorities and not the church or not only the church, this predator may have been stopped years ago. Oh my goodness, all these women and children damaged by Mr. Gilyard! Anybody who was victim of Gilyard please be courageous and come forward. Call the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office and speak to Detective Tillman in the sex crimes dept. No matter how long ago it was call regarding Gilyard. Rest assured that what he's done to you he's done to others too. You are not alone. 1st Timothy I can't even begin to address you. You show just how stupid some christians can be. Gilyard committed CRIMES before he came to Jacksonville and publicly is being tried for the same kind of conduct here. Someone finally had sense enough to go to the sheriff's office otherwise he still wouldn't be called out. Still would be in the pulpit at Shiloh calling out each book of the bible describing Jesus in each one. All the members of Shiloh, current and ex, now know this would be true.

Kay,
I somewhat understand how you felt when you was young. Because I told other people but not my Mom. I felt she must have known. Over the years, when I felt like enough was enough and I needed help to protect my sisters. I did not know what childhood should be like. I could not take it anymore. I told her because there had to be a change. See she had left my father at one point, but they remarry I was so very upset. I looked at her and she seem happy. I thought I could handle it, because by then I was standing up for myself. The people who knew told me not to tell, they would handle things. But you know they did nothing. I was given one lie after another. I was growing up thinking this is why I was here and this what I should expect. I was told I was trouble, and I was not believed. I was even accused of having a relationship with him. How can a 2 year old know about anything like that. All I later knew is that I was hurting. I would cry day and night. When that stupid woman said that to me, I got so angry and it was then I was not going to buy another lie. I huntered him day and night. See he (w) did not get remorseful overnight, it toke 31 years of tornment from me. Meaning, when I was in Germany, I called him constantly to remind him. When I was in Washington, I reminded him, Where ever I was living I gave him no peace. See I was tornmented myself. Because, I felt like abuse is what I should be receiving in life. I did not think I was worthy. But it happen again and again with new abusers. The more hurt and angry built up. By the way, I forgot to say my Mom left him after I told her. She stated I did not do her any favor by not telling. I told her I thought she knew. She said she would never wanted to be with a man that is messing with her kids. I watched her closely and every actions after that. It toke 38 years of life to finally see how much she loves me.
Anyway I moved here and when I did, my first abuser came to me very remorseful and it was then I start trying to heal. I toke 12 years to get out of the depression and the stop the attempts on my life. I thought I could not be any benefit to my son. I was so very damaged. I wanted the mares to go away. It did not matter if it was daytime or night, or whether I was awake or sleeping. They kept on coming. My mother had to watch me day and night. She protected me and cared for me. The 12 years was so hard but I could see her hurt too, I could see how much she loves me. She would cry day and night. People tells me now, that I was off limits to my Mom. My Mom would say I am her top priority and people had to walk carefully if they wanted to hurt me. My Mom was a child herself when I first got hurt. We now talk about everything and anything. I am so glad my mother loves me and cares so deeply for me.

Well, I make it thru by the grace of GOD. I had to heal and stop any cycle. Because I finally understand LOVE, it was what I saw with my son. Now I am remarried and I see love from him that I never thought was possible for me. Total acceptance, admirations and peace.

There is one more passage of Scripture that the police officer from Shiloh failed to comprehend: I Cor. 5:9-13. At the end of that passage the Apostle Paul commands, "Therefore 'put away from yourselves that wicked person'" referring to a sexually immoral man who claims to be a "brother"/Christian.

It's hard to imagine that the good people attending First Timothy, and the good citizens of Jacksonville cannot see that Newbill and DG are in error. They are not following God, nor His Word. Newbill and DG are deliberately disobeying the Bible in having DG preach to any group of people at First Timothy. What's worse, by doing so they are putting children and women of First Timothy at risk of harm.

Christa, thank you for offering to post pictures of anyone who protests against First Timothy. I look forward to seeing them.

I hope there will be a group of concerned citizens who will stand up against such arrogance and mockery of God and His Word. And who will stand to protect children and women at First Timothy.

To: Sharon Rose,

Well said. I personally don't feel lead to protest, but my question is this.......Why don't the people of First Timothy protest to protect their OWN women and children? It seems to me that if they're not concerned enough to protect themselves why should others go in there to try to protect them? I'm not trying to be mean, but these people know what's going on. In my opinion, THEY should be the ones to protest!

Anyhow, has anyone heard if he preached there this past weekend? I'm hoping someone over there puts a stop to it, a Deacon or someone!

If not, I'm afraid a protest may not work. They may only get defenseful and stand up to protect him and they're church, making the protesters look like trouble makers. Just my opinion.

THANKS!

Ms. J.

Anonymous said...

Mrs. J - You're right about the people of First Timothy. THEY should protest!

But we don't know the level of manipulation that is going on within that congregation. We don't know what they are being told by DG and Newbill. They haven't broken any laws, and there's a false teaching about cheap "grace" (with no accountability) out there. So, we just don't know.

It's easy to say the people of First Timothy might deserve what they get for allowing DG into their church as a leader at this time, before DG is cleared of charges against him.

But it won't be easy for another victim, no matter what the circumstance of her victimization. And it's for preventing there being one more victim--child or adult--that good people need to stand up. There are way too many victims already, not to mention family members of the victim who are affected as well. If others speak out, it just might break the brainwashing trance these people might be under, and save a soul or two.

I certainly hope there are those in Jacksonville, and even those attending First Timothy, who will be concerned enough to take a stand.

There is a saying, "When good people do nothing, evil persists." It's not about "leaving it in the hands of the Lord." The Lord leaves it in the hands of good people to do the right thing. Courage will come when you make the decision to do what's right.

Kay, sorry it took a bit for me to remove your post.
I appreciate the kind words about having courage. However, I will always regret (somewhat) that I did not do this years ago. On one hand I wish I would have done more back in 1991, on the other hand I do not think anyone would have listened then. I think that maybe God knew what it would take to get people's attention and for real consequences to come. There are still so many people unwilling to listen now even after all of these years and a long history. Some times I wonder "what will it take". The answer I guess is the same one we wonder when we face unbelievers of the Christian faith, when it seems so clear and simple and evident to us yet there are still those who do not believe.

We just have to do what we know is the right thing and pray for God's will to be done. He knows all and sees all, we have to put our hope and trust in Him. Sometimes our time table does not line up with His, but His way is best.

Thank you to all of the supporters of this blog and the efforts to keep the spotlight on this problem.

The news said that DG and his wife were only meembers but I know someone who is advertising and asking people to attend First Timothy on Sunday. Fox30 news stated that church official said DG would not preach nor speak. His lawyer may stop him from speaking this Sunday, but the word was out this Sunday to come to First Timothy.

Newbill at First Timothy Baptist Church is having Darrell Gilyard preach his church anniversary tomorrow at 11:00 a.m. and every Wednesday night service from the book of Jonah. What a shame to allow DG to preach anything to anyone. He needs to be preached at and sit down, get saved and then do something else, because he is forever disqualified to stand behind a pulpit. He is no longer blameless nor does he have a good reputation from outside of the church according to 1Timothy 3:2-7. If Newbill knows the scripture, he should know that Gilyard is disqualified or perhaps he himself is disqualified for some reason.

Anonymous said...

I was just about to post the same info about him preaching on Sunday and also on Weds.

I know it was reported that he was not to speak nor preach but that is not so. I was told that he is to help First Timothy bring in more members so they can pay for an addition onto their church. This is 2 yr commitment between Newbill and Gilyard. Gilyard is co-pastor or assistant pastor but it’s not on paper yet. He is to preach on Weds nights, beginning May 7th, according to a deacon at First Timothy. His position stirred up quite a debate amongst deacons and some members and according to my source last week Newbill told the congregation if they did not like it they could leave. I doubt if too many will leave as they have been bitten by the denial bug.

Anonymous said...

DG is a bit full of himself if he thinks he can fulfill a two year committment with 1st Timothy. I pray that he will finally be called to task by the legal system before then! I am the former Criswell student who is extensively quoted on one of the other posts here.

Since he has never been held responsible for his actions, he must think that he'll get off with a slap on the wrist again. I thank God that he is in Florida and Florida takes child sexual predators very seriously. I pray that his prior acts will be allowed to be entered into the record to show that this isn't his first time to sexually abuse someone.

To the mom...you and your daughter are truly corrageous and God will bless you for doing what is right and just. Keep up the good fight and thank you for making a stand.

Thanks Luke(the author of of the forenamed gospel).

Newbill must think that's his church and not God's. Wait a minute, maybe it's not God's and it is his. Something for them to worry about.

Tiffany Thigpen Croft said...

We know beyond a shadow of a doubt that the Scriptures are true and the inherent Words of an all knowing God.
When the scriptures warned us of the days to come when people (leaders) would become immune and unfeeling to the things of God - even as they lead churches - and that they would become callous. We are watching all of that before our eyes like never before.
Both Gilyard and Newbill have brought these scriptures to life - and God knew this before they ever breathed their first breath. He knows what it will take to stop them (if He chooses to stop them) and the exact number of people who will sit back and watch it happen and also take part (such as the members of Newbills church who are still there. This is a really sad time for the Church body and we need to really pray like never before because God's judgement comes swiftly.

I am sitting here eyes wide open to the frailty of man but also to the power of an almighty, alknowing God. He is watching us all, and in His word He warns us to be aware of the things that concern Him and not to sit back and do nothing.

I hope that this will be Darrell's earthly time of consequences, just to keep him from continuing to hurt the church - he is spreading his tentacles out right now to catch as many people as he can in his embrace and many are falling for it. Open your eyes people of First Timothy - he is making a mockery of you when you allow him to speeak to you from a pulpit. You are being led astray, stand up for yourselves and find a GOD FEARING church.

Tiffany - Thank you for your words of wisdom.

Gilyard has disqualified himself from having any form of ministry in the church. He has already chosen apostasy, rather than allegiance to the Word. According to the Apostle Paul (I Tim. 5), there are NO SECOND CHANCES for an errant minister.

That means both Gilyard and Newbill are disobeying the Word of God, and neither are qualified to preach the Word. They are merely usurping power and authority they do not possess.

Every Baptist in this country ought to be outraged, and I hope you will all petition the Southern Baptist Convention, and any other affiliation of which First Timothy Baptist may be a part. Putting an alleged sex offender who is out on bail in a pulpit to preach the Word of God is an abomination.

Sharon Rose

Gilyard did preach on Sunday and told the congregation that "God said he was to preach and no one can stop him if God said it."

Newbill told murmuring members last week that DG would preach and if they did not like it they could leave.

This is so sad but not shocking as we are living in the last days.

I think DG has his whole set of in-laws buying into the lie that he's innocent.

He is a liar and a cheater. I feel for his wife and hope she is seeking help so she can distance herself from him. He has been with so many women.

I almost fell for him at one time. I was having trouble in my marriage and counselled with him and he said things against my husband and complimented me at a time I was emotionally starved and I ALMOST fell for it. He would invite me to come to the church office for a kiss and I said no. Why would I say yes to a marriage man?

Its not his looks, he's very persuasive in his speech. It has a hypnotic effect on a person. God forbid! If having affairs was a crime in Florida he'd get death row!

Anonymous said...

I believe the reason Dg is so persuasive and hypnotic is that he is unsaved and possessed by a demon. There is no logical explantion for how he can attract and seduce so many woman and young girls and mesmerise men to blindly follow him unless he has supernatural assistance(aka The coming Antichrist). Two people that have been involved with counseling DG believed that there was demonic activity involved.I was memeber of Shiloh for approx.7 years and I after confronting DG came to believe without knowing the previous men's comments that he was possessed by a demonic force because there is no logical reason to explain his ability manipulate so many men, women and children. To any 1ST Timothy Baptist Church members you have let the devil into you house.

Anonymous said...

I believe he is sick beyond repair right now. He has been blinded because God will not be mocked.
If all the members hold their money and move on, He will have to build a cult that is not God fearing. But do he really think this is over. Amazing. Digging a hole much deeper. I knew he was arrogrant but he is stupid too.
The members of Timothy that stay there is not about God's work unless they are planning to overthrow the leaders who are allowing such antichrist behavior. Why do I want a devil to help teach me the bible? To second guess everything????
This is like playing chess with novice. You can still see the outcome and the handwriting on the wall!
Glad I left Shiloh. Never going to Timothy or any place that thinks hurting children is ok. Taking advantage of hurting people.

slvThe answer to why he can preach is there is a separation of state and religion and its up to the church to allow him to preach. Sad but this is the way it is.

We are truly living in the last days.

We may be living in the last days, but we can still affect change for the good of others. As long as we just sit by and watch what's happening, then this will continue. If not at First Timothy, then at another church down the road, or wherever.

Yes, the laws protecting the church need to change so that misguided and evil men in churches can't harbor criminals in pulpits, putting innocent congregants in harm's way.

It is unthinkable what is happening, but it isn't unchangeable. We can work to change the Separation of Church and State Laws--and we should. We need to be asking ourselves, "What would a man like Martin Luther King, Jr. do?"

Is all of this for real? Did DG in fact preach after being convicted, or are some of the comments just some psycho-antichristian gobbledygoop to discredit the name of Jesus?...Casting eternal judgement on any man is a very serious charge. Not one I would care to pursue! I do however feel that judgement must begin in the house of God.

Run With Truth said...

I was deeply saddened to hear of the demise of DG. It was only after doing a search to get more messages the man preached that I learned about the discredit he has brought to Christ. If all that I've seen is true he needs counselling to deal with his problems, and a willingness to step down from Christian leadership.

Run With Truth said...

When a man goes through the things he went through as a child they do affect him. Unfortunatly, because he is used to sitting in the counsellors chair, it will only take a work of God to touch his heart to the point of humbly submitting to another. Preaching for him is definitely out of the question. 1Tim3:1-6 Pride destroys!

Mighty - What is truly sad is that in all of your concern and compassion for "poor, dear, 'wonderful', man-of-God, 'oh, he had a rough childhood' Gilyard" and how this will affect the "cause of Christ," that you failed to even once reflect on any of DG's 100+ victims! You are truly amazing, and must be the epitome of a modern-day right-wing conservative evangelical Christian man.

The reality is DG has allegedly harmed many women and children throughout his career as a pastor. In my understanding of just a few of his victims, I am believing the victims to be telling the truth, and not DG.

And if DG were the only culprit, then we could all say we were "duped" by the genius of a charismatic, manipulative, narcissistic sociopath.

But what makes this so heinous and disgraceful is that apprently he's been destroying lives for years with the blessing of the Southern Baptist Convention, as they have colluded against innocent lives over and over and over again to cover up his dastardly deeds instead of holding him accountable.

Believe me, no one expects someone like YOU to have any concern or compassion on the lives DG has harmed. If anyone has harmed the cause of Christ, it's DG and the Southern Baptist Convention, and many other Christian institutions, for not properly dealing with men like him.

And if you think DG is an anomaly, you should check out StopBaptistPredators.org, or read the book "The Sexual Abuse of Women by Members of the Clergy" by Kathryn A. Flynn, or check out Faith Trust Institute.

And the next time you hear someone criticizing the church, think about what DG has done and gotten away with, and what YOU haven't done to prevent this from happening.

My prayers are for the judicial system to finally be successful in holding DG accountable, that they will convict him. I say, "Bravo" to the secular courts.

And my prayers are for each of DG's many victims that the Lord will be their comfort, their light, their protection, and that they will be blessed and empowered as they work through the process of regaining wholeness.

anonymous,
You can disregard the whatever comment. I was just trying to figure out how to get back on the blog.
First of all I want to thank you for your candid judgement of my thoughts. YOU ARE WRONG! Before you assume the position of God and tell me what I was thinking, you may want to get a little more information.
Being a victim myself from a young age, I am prayerfully concerned for all those that have been preyed on by DG. I hope they can find it in their heart to forgive him. I know from personal experience that some memories last a lifetime, and that the road to healing and wholeness is a long and arduous path.
I also don't know how you came to the conclusion that I was thinking: "poor, dear, 'wonderful', man-of-God, 'oh, he had a rough childhood' Gilyard". In fact, I feel quite the opposite concerning those that will not take personal responsibility for their actions. Using victim thinking for a man of 46 is far out of the question. By now he should be able to take responsibility. Apparently, at least from what I can see, there is no remorse or accountability. In Proverbs we're told "The wisdom of the prudent is to understand his way: but the folly of fools is deceit" (14:8) This of course means that self deceit is not characteristic of a wise man, nor of a God fearing christian. Therefore, we are left only to wonder what could possibly be going through DG's mind.
Years ago I watched him on Falwell preach what I would consider a very stirring message called "when the thrill is gone", and have in fact seen it on youtube. In the message he proclaimed that the only way back to God was to "repent, repent, repent"; sound advice that he needs to go back to.
Obviously he has alot more in mind than the "thrill" of seeking, following, and fearing God. Satan always uses cheap "thrills" to destroy lives.
All I see in the cases of DG are ways that seem right (Prov 14:12).
To clarify one last thing about what I have read. DG should most definitely not be in any form of leadership as he has disqualified himself. If he is anywhere in the church, it should be at the alter confessing and forsaking his sins. After that, in the court house accepting consequences for his way.
anonymous...
"Judge righteous judgement" is the last thing I'll leave with you tonight.

Anonymous said...

Mighty - one thing we can agree on: DG should NOT be preaching in any church. He has disqualified himself.

Why don't you write or call Pastor Newbill at First Timothy Baptist Church in Jax and persuade him to get DG out of the pulpit at First Timothy?

Or, contact the Southern Baptist Convention and protest DG being allowed to preach in a SBC church?

As a victim yourself, I'm sure you know how important it is to all of DG's victims that DG not preach, or even be in a place where he can harm innocent women and children again.

As a Christian, you realize how this whole DG case has been a mockery to God and His holy Word. Unless someone does something about it, this kind of thing will just continue.
